Our First Dog Show!!

To say that my family is full of animal lovers would be a major understatement. Most of us, with a couple of exceptions, have an deep seated love and admiration for animals of all kinds, not just pets. Most of my siblings prefer the company of animals to people. We do not understand, nor make friends with, people that don’t like animals, or treat them poorly. We champion the cause of animals everywhere.

All of this is why is seems strange that I had never been to a live dog show, having watched them my whole life on television. My sister, her daughters, and I went to our first live show this past Saturday after a wonderful morning of going to yard and estate sales (yesterday’s post), and boy, did we have a blast!!

I’m not including details with the photos because there were just too many to try keep track of.

I’ve saved one of my personal favorite breeds for last. My top favorite is Pitbull (or any variation thereof), but the Cane Corso is right up there neck in neck with them. They have a look like one has crossed it Pitbull and a Bull Mastiff.  To say that they are big, would be a joke.

Here is an 8 month old puppy that was brought to visit the show with his parents. It’s not a very good picture, but our excitement level was pretty high at finally seeing one in ‘person’.

Isn’t he stunning? Just look at that stance! That’s my arm and my sister in the shot, isn’t she beautiful?

This is a Cane Corso sire and dame that were there for the show. They were quite impressive! As you can tell, the one standing wanted some attention while the other really did NOT want to bothered.  Yup, gotta love big dogs with attitude!!

Really big difference in the mood of the dogs – One says ‘Pet me, pet me!’, while the other says ‘Go away, or else!’ Hard to believe they are from same home! LOL

Here are my nieces with a simply gorgeous German Shepherd.  Aren’t the girls beautiful?

Just so that everyone knows, my mood was great all day, and I didn’t have a single, solitary problem socializing with the strangers at the dog show, or the yard sales! I think it was because I was with my sister and her girls, and of course the dogs!

If you like animals, and get the opportunity, I recommend dog shows for ‘happy days’ outings!! If there is no official ‘show’, go to your local pound or humane society and make your own by playing with a few of their borders, it’s mood booster every time! You may even get a new best friend!

Have a Wonderful, and Wonder-Filled Day!

Don’t Forget To Smile! They’re Contagious!

  1. Hello, There’s no doubt that your site might be having internet browser
compatibility problems. When I take a look at your site in Safari, it looks
fine but when opening in I.E., it’s got some overlapping issues.
I simply wanted to provide you with a quick heads up! Besides that, excellent website!
